About

One Day at Christmas is a charity event run by the UK events industry to create a wonderful and special Christmas day experience for  people experiencing loneliness.

Originally started by Mash Media in 2017 at London’s ExCeL, the event has gathered huge momentum and now takes place across multiple venues simultaneously across the UK each December.

Last year over 70 organisations from across the UK events industry supported One Day at Christmas with sponsorship, gifts, entertainment and their time to make a magical day for everyone.

If you'd like to get involved please contact us for more information.

For Volunteers

How Can I Get Involved?
if you'd like to volunteer for One Day at Christmas please register here

What to expect if you volunteer for One Day at Christmas
Volunteers are required to help with the smooth running of the event. The venue will inform you of your duties on the day, but expect to welcome guests and help escort them from the drop off point to the event area, serve drinks and food to tables, assist with general requests throughout the day. This is intended to be a special event for people who may be lonely at this time of year, so please come with a smile and help to make this a special day for everyone involved.

Do I have to be a benefactor or event partner to volunteer?
No you don’t, but volunteering places on the actual day are always in high demand so donating organisations will be given first allocation.

I can’t make the actual day is there anything else I can volunteer to help with?
Yes, from wrapping presents or helping to organise elements of the event, please email jo@raccoonmediagroup.com to find out how else you can support the events this year.

If I volunteer on the day will food be provided?
Each venue will differ and may depend on the number of guests that will be attending, but every effort will be made to provide some catering where possible. Once your volunteer application has been successful your details will be sent on to the venue and joining instructions sent prior to the event.

Can I choose the venue I volunteer at?
You can select your preferred venue when you sign up and we will do our very best to accommodate you, we will be in touch in good time with an update.

What should I wear?
Please wear something comfortable and festive. Remember you may need to do a fair amount of walking and serve food and drinks from the kitchen area, so practical shoes are advisable.

Time commitment
Please be prepared to commit a whole working day where possible (9am - 5pm). It is unlikely that you will be required for the full day, but depending on the venue and the role allocated to you, there may be a requirement to help with the event set-up and/or breakdown.
